For actors from marginalized communities, there is often an unnamed force in the rooms where we learn and work. Even when no one names it, the body does. Racialized stress can constrict the breath, tense the muscles, and consume attention—shaping not only how an actor feels in the room, but the creative choices available to them.

In this free Zoom conversation, Nicole M. Brewer and LAS founder Desean K. Terry will explore how racism moves through our classrooms, rehearsal rooms, and sets; how it registers in the actor’s body and work; and how antiracist practices can create the conditions for greater artistic freedom.
