Biography
Meagan Prahl hails from Cleveland, Ohio. She is a voice, speech, and dialect coach, an intimacy director and choreographer, an actor, and a professor of theater at Loyola Marymount University. Meagan specializes in helping actors make brave choices both vocally and physically while finding their unique sound. She uses techniques primarily from Knight Thompson Speech, Linklater, and Jones to discover authenticity and individuality in each person she works with.
With years of experience as a voice, speech, and dialect coach, an intimacy director and choreographer, an actor, and a professor of theater at Loyola Marymount University, Meagan has established herself as a master of her craft. Her expertise lies in assisting actors in making bold choices both vocally and physically while finding their unique sound. By incorporating techniques from Knight Thompson Speech, Linklater, and Jones, she diligently works to discover authenticity and individuality in each person she collaborates with.
Meagan’s passion for boundaries, consent, and trauma-informed pedagogies in acting, voice, and movement is evident in her pursuit of a certification from Cintima for intimacy coordination. The voice is an integral part of our identity, and Meagan’s work empowers individuals to use their voices effectively, even when emotions take over and threaten clarity. Her work has been showcased on the campuses of Loyola Marymount University, Pomona College, and many professional theaters, including The Vagrancy Theater in Los Angeles and Keen Company in NYC.
Meagan received her MFA from The Brown/Trinity Rep MFA Program in Acting, and she has been coaching acting and voice privately for 20 years. Currently, she is collaborating with her mentor and voice coach to the stars, Thom Jones, to co-write a book on Black American dialects of English.
